On-board Service

There are no set conventions that need to be followed during a Memorial Service and Scattering at Sea.

Upon arrival the entire group will be welcomed aboard and given an orientation by the Captain. Specific instructions will also be given to those who will actually be doing the scattering.

The Captain does not directly participate in the Service but will oversee and assist as needed.

Prior to the departure date the Captain will counsel the immediate family. He will make some suggestions as to how a Service may be conducted. Additional considerations will be discussed, to include flowers, music and photographic or video recording.

You will be sent a planning guide prior to the trip. This informative guide will help you plan for and carry out the final arrangements.

Charter Specifics

  • Length of trip is generally two hours.
  • Scheduling will be determined by the needs of the family and the availability of the boat.
  • Sunset trips are offered from May to mid-October.
  • Reservations are required at least one week in advance, if at all possible. A fifty percent (50%) deposit is required to confirm a particular date when signing the charter agreement.
  • Inclement weather may cause the trip to be postponed. This decision will be made by the Captain in concert with the family.
  • The cost of the trip ranges from $500 to $700 depending on the size of the group. Weekday trips are priced less than weekends. Additional time on board, if desired, is charged at a rate of $200 per hour.
  • Unaccompanied scatterings can be carried out at reduced cost.
  • Refreshments may be brought on board if desired.
